Bespectacled Begins

I know I said this last time but, holy shit.
Bespectacled is becoming our baby. We've had a few informal meets with the people we know already - nothing special, mostly just drinks and laughs with a bit of business thrown in. But it's genuinely interested people crowding round a table in the Pilgrim with a bunch of ideas and a whole lot of ego, myself included.
And it feels wonderful.
I'm tired, I'm stressed, my brain is running a million miles and hour, and the hard work hasn't even started yet. Right now, it's mostly just replying to emails, making sure everything is up to date, ringing venues, making contacts and remembering to tweet. And that's taking me up to midnight every night. I dread to think what will happen once rehearsals to start but my god - I'm excited, and I'm ready.
For the first time in three years I'm not working towards a deadline I have little to no interest in completing - a deadline someone in an office set for me. I'm working towards something I've dreamed of since I was little. Really, I never had any interest in being famous, or acting in film. I just wanted to make a decent living out of doing what I loved - don't we all?
And the people - the people we're already working with are phenomenal. We're sharing ideas, skills, contacts and knowledge and it's great. Bespectacled feels like it's breathing - brimming with creativity and excitement. We're naive - and we know we are - we're a young company and we're not pretending to know what we're doing, fuck. But we've got the determination, the wit to try and enough people to keep it going.
As an update, we have joined the wonderful Liverpool Arts Society and are planning on attending their networking events soon - so if you're going to one of those look out for us! In more exciting news (to Franki, anyways) we have (literally) shiny new business cards and our very own video camera. Sometimes, its the little things!
We've finalised venues for our introductory workshops and they're gaining lots of interest which is exciting - exciting and scary. I honestly cannot wait to meet more of the creative & driven people of Liverpool and introduce them to the concept of Bespectacled - something I really believe in. Something a lot of people I've spoken to have told me that Liverpool needs.
And I think - I hope - that we're going to do it right.
Franki
